About The Malayalam Language:
Malayalam is a Dravidian language with over 38 million speakers. It is spoken mostly in South West India in regions such as Kerala, the Laccadive Islands and its neighboring states. It is also prevalent in Bahrain, Fiji, Israel, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore and the UAE. The oldest known Malayalam written script dates back to 830 and is known as the Vazhappalli.
The Grantha alphabet was brought to South India in the 8th and 9th centuries and adapted to the Malayalam language for writing purposes. Over the following centuries, further adaptions were made until the current format we know today.
Towards a superior translation service
When translating Malayalam it should be taken into account there are variances in the language determined by whether the interaction is formal or informal, the region involved (SEAtongue offers in-house native linguists – see below) and the differences made by caste and religion.
